I have chosen the career of Mechanical Engineering for this research paper. The reason why I choose this career is because I am very interested in prototyping, designing, and building machines and other types of tools that we use in our daily lives. Mechanical engineers make people’s lives better and easier. I find this interesting inspires me to become one of them. This is why I choose this profession for my research paper. I will be going over five topics for this paper. These topics are:
1. High school and university requirements
2. What is the graduation rate in a engineering course at a top engineering university
3. How hard is it to get a successful job as an engineer
4. Average work hours of an engineer

Physics is used to calculate many parts of structures and machines. Furthermore physics is used to calculate what will happen to aircrafts at high speeds. This is helpful for students who want to go through aerospace engineering. This is why so many students chose to go through mechanical engineering before starting aerospace engineering. Chemistry and Pre-Calculus Mathematics are also used in many parts of engineering, which is why they are a required course to get into an engineering program at universities.
The next point that I will talk about is the graduation rates of three universities (for comparison). The three that I will be comparing are the University of Waterloo, University of Toronto and Queens University. The graduation rates will be ordered from best to worst out of these three universities. The best average graduation rate is Queens University with 89% graduation rate. The second place university is the University of Waterloo with a graduation rate of 88.5%. The third place university is University of Toronto with a graduation rate of 86%. These numbers were calculated from six years of data and then averaged to get the graduation rate. Each university’s data comes directly from the university databases. This information is helpful when trying to find a university to study mechanical engineering. With this data you know what university from which you would have the highest chance of graduating from. Mechanical engineers are very important to the world of manufacturing of machines and future technology products. These engineers are a portion of your life. They created your spoons, zippers, cars, bikes, and many other fascinating things that you can think of. Mechanical engineers are originally to become productive with hands-on objectives in the world. I plan to become a mechanical engineer after I graduate college.
Some engineers have to get a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in business administration to become a mechanical engineer. Before a person can become an engineer, they have to pass the subjects of chemistry, physics, algebra II, calculus, geometry and biology in either junior college or high school. Mechanical engineering is used every day to either manufacture or create newer models of cars, boats, motorcycles, robots, or other mechanical inventions.
Companies around the globe are looking for more and more mechanical engineers to create newer steps of technology on Earth. For example, the space shuttle used by NASA, which was designed by several mechanical engineers, which had advanced technology to make more than one trip into space and back without having to make another ship like Apollo 13 did.
Furthermore, engineers usually work at construction sites or in factories at least 40 hours a week sometimes having to work overtime when their project deadlines are due.
Engineers have many tasks on the job like researching new designs, reading blueprints, maintaining design requirements, searching for malfunctions, helping other designers, testing designs, estimating the cost of labor, and studying more to become more familiar to the areas of robotics, waste management and bio-medical engineering.
Many other skills that are recommended but not required for mechanical engineers is, using computer software, data processing, hydraulics, machinery, statistics, propelling instruments, and underwater-based vehicles. In fact, the most important task you will most likely have to do is to make solutions and problem solving suggestions.
